MY STORY
Hi, I’m Erika Sapala, the founder of Mother and Crumb. This journey started in my own kitchen, sparked by a simple desire to nourish my family. After becoming a mother, I began researching the ingredients in the foods we eat, and I was disappointed by what I found. That’s when I turned to sourdough—a time-honored tradition that uses natural fermentation to create bread that’s not just delicious but full of benefits.
Sourdough isn’t just bread; it’s wellness in every bite. Its natural fermentation process makes it easier to digest, supports gut health, and can even promote hormone balance. When I saw how much my family thrived, I knew I had to share it with others.
That’s how Mother and Crumb was born. The name represents both the heart of sourdough—the “mother” starter that gives life to every loaf—and the joy found in the smallest, simplest things, like the perfect crumb of bread. My goal is to help you bring the warmth, health, and connection of sourdough to your own table, whether through our dehydrated starter or fresh loaves baked with care.
From my kitchen to yours, welcome to Mother and Crumb. I’m so glad you’re here.
